Introduction to Mindfulness
“Mindfulness is about being fully awake in our lives. It is about perceiving the exquisite vividness of each moment” – Jon Kabat-Zinn
Do you need help for problems such as depression, stress, anxiety, relationship issues, or substance use? Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to the present moment, something many of us struggles with in the high-paced speed of modern life. Mindfulness has been talked about extensively and is being found to be an effective skill to combat many of life difficulties. Mindfulness meditation has been found to have a positive impact on person’s mental health and enhances their overall well-being. Mindfulness studies reveal that clients are able to increase their resiliency to stress and, they are able to bounce back quicker from stressful situations. Researchers have also found that many going through mental health situations have found that adding mindfulness to their treatment strategies has proven to be essential in treating conditions such as OCD, BPD, and drug addiction. It has also been found to be helpful in prevention of chronically relapsing depression. This workshop provides an overview of mindfulness and provides participants with introductory mindfulness exercises that will help them develop a deeper sense of well being. *No prior experience with mindfulness is necessary to participate.
