Emotional Regulation

Emotional dysregulation is a symptoms of several different emotional states. When we get really bad or devastating news, it can be hard to remain grounded and we may lash out at others or sob uncontrollably. Emotional dysregulation can arise for many different reasons. For example individual diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD) often struggle with regulating more difficult emotions. Psychological trauma and/or PTSD may also contribute to significant emotional dysregulation and individual with trauma may exhibit fear, anger, anxiety, and/or sadness.
