Grief

Grief is something that most of will experience at least once in our lifetimes, if not more. Grief is what we feel when we experience loss, whether that is the death of a loved one, the end of relationship, or losing a job. Making sense of loss and how your life changes after loss is challenging. When someone is experience grief, they may go through a spectrum of emotions from sadness to anger to confusion. Everyone goes their grief in their own way and has their own process of making sense of their loss and how to continue living.

Some grief can be more complex, especially if it accompanied with trauma or other difficult life circumstance. Grief can also be a trigger for depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions. Some individual may already be struggling with their mental health when they experience a loss and it can reinforce negative beliefs they hold about themselves or the world. Having the support of a therapist during grief can help in processing and working through the loss. Therapy won’t take away the pain of the loss but it can help you work through the complicated emotions and thoughts that arise while you are going through your grief journey.
